"No cotton wool whatsoever.
As soon as she starts, your face is up against the wall."

Gordon Taylor, Infectious Unease Radio

"The music is very alternative, but even an
old mainstreamer like me found pieces to enjoy...
my stand out was easily Talie Helene’s own offering,
titled The Black Queen. Hypnotic.
I'm looking forward to the EP's release."

HAMMERHEART – Metal Thunder Every Thor’s Day

by admin ~ September 17th, 2005. Filed under: Events.

HAMMERHEART – THE VIBE

“Thor’s Day”, or “Thorsdagar” in Old Norse, is dedicated to the Norse God Thor, he who battles against chaos with his hammer – Mjollnir, the Destroyer; the hammer is a symbol of both the force of nature and the serenity of self-possession, for Thor’s hammer returns true to his hand every time he throws it. Being a Storm God, Thor’s interests include roaring like thunder, slinging thunderbolts when angered, drinking with friends and listening to metal. A kindly and whole-hearted friend, Thor brings refreshing rain, calms storms, and protects and defends against empty doof-doof nights out and wishy-washy mainstream music. Make every Thursday a Thor’s Day!

HAMMERHEART – THE VENUE

Rock’n'roll has stomped all over LA’s Sunset Strip and New York’s Bowery and East Village for decades. It’s obvious that rock fans in Melbourne have craved a similar social hangout that exists outside of pubs and extends beyond alternative radio stations; a mid-sized venue that can be your after work drinking hole or a place to see some of the scene’s best local and international bands. The Ding Dong Lounge is a venue dedicated to live instrumental music, be it metal, rock, punk or acoustic – all that is raw and real and rockin’.

The Ding Dong Lounge in New York City is a dimly lit bar, decorated in band posters, cuckoo clocks, cosy corners and a spacious dancing area. Beer is poured from taps that are made from used guitar and bass necks. Bill Walsh (Cosmic Psychos) was approached by his New York friends Bill Nolan and Steve Naidich to open a sister bar in Australia – they chose Melbourne because it is driven by the same sophisticated rock appreciation that NYC is renowned for. “We liked the New York connection because of the similarities in good music, they are both stylish cities and people in both places have a similar taste in this kind of venue,” says Walsh.

HAMMERHEART is currently taking bookings for live bands and special events; the venue has full stage and is licensed for 400. HAMMERHEART is also seeking sponsorship from industry, and label support. With affiliations around Australia, close ties with international media, and an appealing venue, HAMMERHEART provides artists and businesses a platform on which to raise their profile both locally and globally.

HAMMERHEART gratefully acknowledges the generous support of Roadrunner Records (Australia), the Ding Dong Lounge, Zero Tolerance Magazine, and Jägermeister.
